Camps inspire youths
6 June 2025THE 10,000 Toes Campaign recently held in the Northern Region, under the theme “Walk the Talk — Training 10,000 Toes Ambassadors to Transform Communities,” came at a truly providential time.
It served as a powerful wake- up call to the growing impact of non-communicable diseases (NCDs), especially diabetes, within our communities.
The weekend program was designed to equip the 10k Toes ambassadors, deepen their understanding of how to control, manage, prevent, and even reverse diabetes through the principles of lifestyle medicine.
After the close of Sabbath, the ambassadors received training in ‘anti-stress’ massage techniques, promoting holistic well-being.
On Sunday morning, the training continued with sessions on natural remedies, including hydrotherapy and the use of poultices — simple yet powerful methods for healing.
A much-anticipated highlight was the food demonstration, showcasing vibrant, healthful dishes: raw duruka salad, savory patties, raw eggplant kokoda, ota salad, raw pumpkin salad, and a delightful banana sago dessert.
These six recipes were creatively presented by six groups, each made up of 10 ambassadors.
Following the demonstrations, ambassadors were awarded certificates, marking the beginning of their new mission.
As the training concluded, the ambassadors returned to their local churches, ready to apply and share the skills and knowledge they had gained — becoming true instruments of healing and transformation in their communities.
In the spirit of our calling, we are reminded of the words of Scripture: “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” (3 John 1:2, NKJV)
We give all glory to God for the success of this training, trusting that the seeds sown will bear much fruit for His Kingdom.
The campaign closed with an inspiring address from Pastor Sakeo Matakaruru, Regional Director for North Region 1.
