(1) Prayer is not mere one part of faith but essential part to give influence all parts of faith. The method to acquire the infinite inherits of faith is prayer. Faith fulfills impossibility. Who can move mountain is God only, and the thing to move God is faith and prayer.

(2) Jesus word in Mk.11:24 are the decisive stone to fasten door of faith and prayer; “whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

This word of “believe that you have received it, and it will be yours” means the faith which prayer understand and get it his own.

(3) The faith that ceased praying is not faith any more. Faith is the basement of Christian character and source to protect safety of soul and spirit. If faith is fallen down, his spiritual life is disappeared and all structures of faith life is destroyed.

(1) 1Pet.1:5-7, “make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love” say that faith is the basement; on the faith other things are added. Therefore this word request us adding faith.

The thing to heat faith is possible by continuous prayer. The prime power to make faith vivid is prayer. At every step to add grace to grace, people need prayer.

(2) When we pray, faith surely needs prayer. The faith that believes in the power of Christ Jesus to do great things is the faith which does big prayer.   Jesus said to person in Mt.9:28-29, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?" "Yes, Lord," they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, "According to your faith will it be done to you.”Like as this, faith is to obey. When we hear God’s word, faith is to go and cleanse. Faith is to instantly remove the stone that stopped up the tomb. Obedience increases the faith, and faith births obedience again.

(3) Faith needs the time to wait with endurance in front of God. Even though there is no answer from God, faith is not to discourage. Faith gives God the time to fulfill His purpose at His programmed time. True faith is to invest many years to waiting.

Therefore, ‘consider the delayed time is the time God tests us.’ Jesus Christ also intentionally delayed to fulfill bigger good things; Jn.11:14-15, “then he (Jesus) told them plainly, "Lazarus is dead, and for your sake I am glad I was not there, so that you may believe. But let us go to him.”

(4) “O! Saints who are in deep trials! Don’t lose perseverance and keep firm faith. Then, Jesus will come to you. As much as time Lord delays to you, the blessing which Jesus will bring is bigger as much He delayed. Continually pray! Continually wait! You are not to be failed person. At Lord’s time Jesus will come to you. At that time, He will never delay any more to you.”

(5) God must do necessary work to give continuous benefits to persons who seek God. To rescue Jacob from hand of Esau, God had many things to deal Jacob and Esau. At first Jacob must have been new person.

(6) Faith to believe in Jesus Christ is the first button to all actions and prayer. All prayers are done in the name of Jesus Christ. At praying time, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ must be the King and play His role.

If Jesus dwells in fountain of my life and He takes the core seat through His life wave removing myself wave, He will listen to my prayer and allow me to get all things that I ask and seek.

(1) The main two enemies against faith are doubt and fear; if we have two, even though we pray, there is no peace rather we are filled with complaints and unrest.

The reason why Peter who walked on the lake fallen into the water is because he let the power of faith into water. When he was far from eyes of Jesus Christ, it was happened.

(2) We must not keep doubt and not welcome fear to us. Word of God Phil.4:6 is the method of God to heal all fear, anxiety and worry that come from doubt and unfaith; “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

So, we must pray, “Lord Jesus! Increase our faith big.”

(3) When we read word of God and mediate it, our faith grows, but when we pray earnestly, faith grow big. Prayer leads us into the life of faith. Prayer depends upon faith. Prayer shines its effectiveness when faith is there.

(4) Before our petition is lifted to God, we must recognize God gives His prize to persons who seek Him. This is the first step to pray. Faith does not directly give us the blessing, but faith leads prayer to seek blessing, and to lead us to the step to get blessings.

(5) Faith accompany with prayer on every step one by one. But doubt hinders answer of prayer, because it is enemy against faith. Faith must insist on own self, and must command two enemies ‘doubt and fear’ “leave from us.”

(1) Christ soldier must be firmly armed by continuous prayer and put on the full armor of God (truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, word of God). It is because of wearing full armor of God he must stand at the battle site. Christians who want to win war must wake up and pray. Through prayer only, we can defeat Satan, and drives out its many evil messengers. “Pray with all prayers” is God’s commands.

(2) Christian who has fought good fight of faith must continually find prayer place and pray, because Christian life is war, bitter fighting, and battle envisaged through whole life. The life that Holy Spirit welcomes is the life to make efforts and to fight.

This is the war from the start to the end. Christian must be suffered as the good soldier of Christ Jesus from the pulling knife to put off armor of God (1Tim.2:3).

(3) Christian soldiers is not fighting against flesh and blood, but fighting against “spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Eph.6:12).

Christian must know the essence of mission given by God, and know the enemy which we continually must destroy. Once again I say, we must know Satan’s will, its power and its strategy. Then we can pray to destroy Satan and its things.

(4) How soldiers fighting for Jesus can be strong? It is prayer. The method to increase fighting power of soldiers’ good fight for God, and to make sure of victory is prayer.

(5) If there is no prayer, there is no the full armor of God (truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, word of God). When soldier of Christ prays, he must earnestly do it. Soldier of Christ always must pray at any time and situation, not only at fierce battle site but also peaceful time.

What kind of adventure or efforts soldier of Christ make, prayer must be mobilized and all current matters must be solved by prayer. To the full of armor of God, prayer and petition must be added.

(6) Prayer plays role of ring to connect each part of the full armor of God (truth, righteousness, faith, salvation, word of God). God’s true soldier makes plan by prayer and properly allocates several power of army by prayer and stands front of actual war by prayer. Therefore, soldier of Christ of course unceasingly pray, because of always fighting war.

(7) Spiritual soldier must be faithful to basic principle that ‘always be wake up.’ He must hear all the time the shouting “Wake up and pray”. He absolutely must not sleep at guard post. Thoroughly waking up is the indispensible condition to pray. If we lose our sight even a little or lose our guard is the same sentence of death to the prayer.

(8) “Be self-controlled and alert” (1Pet.5:8) means we must wake up without sleeping if we want to fight against enemies. Sleep means not pray. Satan never sleeps, but “always daily prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to eat” (1Pet.5:8).

Even though people possess many things, if he does not pray, his life is weak and he is useless shell only. Finally he will be easy food to spiritual enemy Satan. Therefore, Col.4:2 request, “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful”      We must be alert before praying, we must be alert when praying, and we must be alert after praying.

(9) Jesus Christ urged disciples ‘be alert and pray’;

Mk.13:33, Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.

Mk. 14:38, Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation…..

   It means Jesus reminded them ‘be alert and praying is the one’.

   Jesus Christ taught that ‘be alert is important to pray.’

(10) Paul urged us ‘always pray’. Did you finish one day work? Then, give your thanks which God helped you today, and get enough time to seek God’s accompany for tomorrow

(11) We must be alert to find the person and things to pray. To find temptations and sins which lay seizure around us, we must examine our mind. Then we can know what to pray and how to pray.

(12) God chose the method to give His grace to people by answering to people’s prayer of faith only. Satan tempts us through very cunningly method; Satan leads us to endlessly wandering into the sea of rubbish thinking through putting association of idea into our thinking. Therefore, when we pray, we must be alert not to be defeated to our flesh desire and soulish thinking. When we pray, we must catch Satan’s tactics and instantly meet challenge against it. For getting answer of prayer, we must be alert.

VII. 기도하는 방법 ------------------------------How to pray

(1) 기도는 단지 믿음의 한 부분이 아니라, 믿음의 모든 부분에 영향을 주는 본질적인 부분이다. 믿음의 무한한 유산을 손에 넣을 수 있는 방법이 기도이다. 믿음은 불가능한 것을 이룬다. 산을 옮기실 수 있는 분은 하나님 한 분인데, 그 분을 움직이는 것은 믿음과 기도이다.

(2) 예수님의 말씀 “내가 나희에게 말하노니 무엇이든지 기도하고 구하는 것은 받은 줄로 믿으라. 그리하면 너희에게 그대로 되리라 (막 11:24)” 는 믿음과 기도의 문의 쐐기 돌이다. “받은 줄로 믿으라 그리하면 너희에게 그대로 되리라” 는 말은, 이것을 깨닫고 자기 것으로 취하는 믿음을 말한다.

(3) 기도를 중단한 믿음은 더 이상 살아 있는 믿음이 아니다. 믿음은 그리스도인의 인격의 기초이며, 영혼의 안전을 보호하는 원천이다. 믿음이 떨어지면 영적 생명도 사라지고 신앙생활의 모든 구조물이 무너진다.

(1) “너희가 더욱 힘써 너희 믿음에 덕을, 덕에 지식을, 지식에 절제를, 절제에 인내를, 인내에 경건을, 경건에 형제 우애를, 형제 우애에 사랑을 공급하라” (벧후 1:5-7). 믿음이 기본 토대이고, 그 위에 다른 것들이 세워진다. 믿음을 증가시키라고 말한다. 믿음을 더하는 일은 뜨겁고 꾸준한 기도로써 가능하다. 믿음을 살아 있게 만드는 원동력은 기도이며, 은혜에 은혜를 더하는 과정에서 매 단계마다 기도가 필요하다.

(2) 기도할 때 믿음이 반드시 필요하다. 큰 일을 행하실 수 있는 그리스도의 능력을 믿는 믿음은 크게 기도하는 믿음이다. “내가 능히 이 일 할 줄을 믿느냐 대답하되 주여 그러하오이다. 이에 예수께서 저희 눈을 만지시며 가라사대 너희 믿음대로 되라 하신대” (마 9:28-29)

믿음은 순종한다. 믿음은 행동한다. 말씀을 들었을 때 믿음은 실제로 가서 씻는 것이다. 믿음은 나사로의 무덤을 막고 있는 돌을 즉시 옮겨 놓는다. 순종은 믿음을 증가시키고 믿음은 다시 순종을 낳는다.

(3) 믿음은 하나님 앞에서 인내심을 가지고 기다려야 할 때가 많다. 기도응답이 즉시 주어지지 않는다고 해도 믿음은 결코 낙심하지 않는다. 믿음은 하나님께서 정하신 때에 그분의 목적을 성취하시도록 시간을 내어드린다. 진정한 믿음은 오랜 세월을 기다림에 투자한다. 기도응답이 늦춰지는 기간을 하나님께서 우리의 믿음을 시험하시는 때라고 여기라. 예수님께서는 더 큰 선을 이루시기 위해 의도적으로 지체하셨다. 요11:14-15.

(4) 오! 시험과 시련에 빠진 성도여, 두려워 말라! 인내심을 잃지 말고 믿음을 굳게 지키면 예수님께서 찾아 오실 것이다. 주님이 늦어지는 그만큼 그 분이 가져오실 복은 더욱 커질 것이다. 계속 기도하라! 계속 기다리라! 당신은 실패하지 않는다. 주께서 정하신 적절한 때에 그 분이 오실 것이다. 그 때가 되면, 결코 지체하지 않으실 것이다.

(5) 하나님께서는 구하는 사람에게 영속적인 유익을 주기 위해 필요한 일들을 행하셔야 한다. 하나님께서는 야곱을 에서의 손에서 건지시기 위해 그를 위하여 처리하여야 할 것이 많으셨다. 에서뿐만 아니라 야곱 자신이 변화되어야 했기 때문이다. 야곱이 먼저 새 사람이 되어야 했다.

(6) 그리스도를 믿는 믿음은 모든 행동과 기도의 첫 단추가 된다. 모든 기도는 예수 그리스도의 이름으로 드려진다. 기도 시간에는 우리의 구주이며 주님이신 예수 그리스도의 이름과 인격이 왕 노릇 해야 한다.

예수님께서 내 인생의 샘에 거하셔서 그 분의 생명의 물결이 내 자아의 물결을 밀어 내고 대신 자리를 차지하신다면, 그럴 때에 그 분께서는 내 기도에 귀를 기울이시며 내가 구하는 모든 것을 허락하신다. 

(1) 믿음의 두 가지 주된 적은 의심과 두려움이다. 그럴 경우, 우리가 기도할지라도 우리의 기도에는 평안이 없고 대신 불평과 불안이 가득하다. 물 위를 걷던 베드로가 즉시 물에 빠진 이유는 믿음의 능력을 물에 빠뜨렸기 때문이다. 주님에게 눈을 떼자 발생했다.

(2) 우리는 의심을 품어서도 안 되고, 마음 속에 두려움을 들여서도 안 된다.      “아무 것도 염려하지 말고, 오직 모든 일에 기도와 간구로 너희 구할 것을 감사함으로 하나님께 아뢰라.” (빌 4:6). 이것이 의심과 불신앙에서 나오는 모든 두려움과 불안과 걱정을 치료하는 하나님의 방법이다. “주여 우리의 믿음을 크게 하소서.” 라고 기도해야 한다.

(3) 하나님의 말씀을 읽고 묵상하면 믿음이 자라지만, 믿음은 기도를 열심히 할 때에 크게 성장한다.

(4) 기도는 우리를 믿음의 삶으로 이끌고 간다. 기도는 절대적으로 믿음에 의존한다. 믿음이 있어야 기도가 효력을 발휘한다.

(5) 간청을 올리기 전에 그 분이 “자기를 찾는 자들에게 상 주시는 이” 에 동의해야 한다. 이것이 기도의 임하는 첫걸음이다. 믿음이 복을 가져다 주는 것은 아니지만, 믿음은 기도로 하여금 복을 구하게 만들고, 복을 얻을 수 있도록 다음 단계로 이끌어 준다.

(6) 믿음은 기도가 한 걸음 한 걸음 내디딜 때마다 동행한다. 그러나 의심은 믿음의 원수로서 기도의 응답을 방해한다. 믿음은 자신을 당당히 주장해야 하며, 두려움과 의심이라는 원수에게 “사라지라” 라고 명해야 한다.

(1) 그리스도의 군사는 항상 기도로 단단히 무장하며 또한 전신갑주 (진리, 의, 복음, 믿음, 구원, 말씀) 를 입어야 한다. 전신갑주를 입고 전쟁터에 나가기 위한 것이다. 전쟁의 승리를 원하는 그리스도인은 깨어 기도해야 한다. 오직 기도를 통해 사탄을 이길 수 있고, 그의 수많은 사자들을 물리칠 수 있다. “모든 기도로써 기도하라”는 말은 하나님의 명령이다.

(2) 믿음의 선한 싸움을 싸우는 그리스도인의 군사는 지속적으로 기도의 장소를 찾아 기도해야 한다. 왜냐하면, 그리스도인의 삶은 전쟁이요 치열한 싸움이며 평생 계속되는 전투이기 때문이다. 성령께서 우리를 초대하시는 삶은 애쓰고 싸워야 하는 삶이다. 이것은 처음부터 끝까지 전쟁이다. 그리스도인은 처음 칼을 뽑을 때부터 최후에 갑옷을 벗을 때까지 “예수의 좋은 군사로서 고난을 받아야 한다 “ (딤후 2:3)

(3) 그리스도의 군사는 혈과 육을 상대로 싸우지 않고 “하늘에 있는 악의 영들”에 대항하여 싸운다 (엡 6:12). 그리스도의 군사는 자신이 받아들인 사명의 본질을 명확히 알아야 한다. 그런 다음 끝까지 싸워야 할 적에 대해서도 파악해야 한다. 다시 말해 사탄의 뜻과 능력과 전략에 대해 알아야 한다.

(4) 그리스도를 위해 싸우는 군사가 강하고 용맹스러워지는 방법은 무엇일까? 그것은 기도이다. 하나님을 위하여 선한 싸움을 싸우는 군인의 전투력을 높이고 전쟁의 승리는 확실하게 만드는 것은 기도이다.

(5) 기도 없으면 전쟁의 전신갑주 (진리, 의, 복음, 믿음, 구원, 말씀) 도 없다. 그리스도의 군사는 기도할 때에 분투해야 한다. 그리스도의 군사는 어느 때나 어느 상황에서도 기도를 해야 한다. 치열하게 싸우는 전시뿐 아니라 평시에도 기도를 해야 한다. 어떠한 모험과 노력을 하든 거기에는 반드시 기도가 동원되어야 하고, 모든 현안은 기도에 의해 결정되어야 한다. 하나님의 전신갑주에 기도와 간구가 덧붙여져야 한다.

(6) 기도는 하나님의 전신 갑주 (진리, 의, 복음, 믿음, 구원, 말씀) 의 각 부분을 연결해 주는 고리와 같은 역할을 한다. 하나님의 진정한 군사는 기도로써 작전을 짜고, 기도로써 다양한 군사력을 적절히 배치시키며, 기도로써 실제 전투에 임해야 한다. 그리스도의 군사는 항상 싸워야 하기 때문에 당연히 쉬지 말고 기도해야 한다.

(7) 영적군사는 항상 깨어 있어야 한다는 기본 원칙에 충실해야 한다. “깨어 기도하라” 라는 외침이 언제나 그의 귓가에서 울려 펴져야 한다. 그는 초소에서 절대로 잠들어서는 안 된다. 철저히 깨어 있는 것은 기도하기 위한 필수 조건이다. 조금이라도 방심하거나 경계를 푸는 것은 기도자에게 사형선고나 마찬가지이다.

(8) “근신하고 깨어 있으라.” 우리는 원수들과 싸워 이기려면 잠에 취하지 말고 깨어 있어야 한다. 잠잔다는 말은 기도하지 않는다는 말이다. 사탄은 결코 잠들지 않고, “매일같이 우는 사자와 같이 먹이를 찾아 돌아 다닌다” (벧전 5:8). 사람이 아무리 많은 것을 소유하고 있더라도, 기도하지 않으면, 그의 삶은 연약하고 비효율적인 껍데기에 불과하다. 결국 그는 영적 원수인 사탄의 손쉬운 먹잇감으로 전락하고 만다.     골로새서 4;2절은, “기도를 항상 힘쓰고, 기도에 감사함으로 깨어 있으라”고 말한다.

(9) 예수님은 제자들에게 깨어 기도하라고 권면하셨다 (막 13:33, 14:38). 깨어 있는 것과 기도하는 것이 하나임을 말씀하셨다. “기도를 항상 힘쓰고 기도에 감사함으로 깨어 있으라” (골 4:2). 우리는 기도하기 전에 깨어 있어야 하고, 기도할 때 깨어 있어야 하며, 기도한 후에 깨어 있어야 한다. 깨어 있는 것이 기도를 위해 매우 중요하다는 말이다.

(10) 바울은 우리에게 “항상 기도하라”라고 명령한다. 하루의 일과가 끝났는가? 그렇다면 오늘 베푸신 하나님의 도우심에 감사하고, 내일 주님의 동행을 구하기 위해 충분한 시간을 가져라.

(11) 우리는 우리 기도의 대상을 위해 깨어 있어야 한다. 유혹들과 우리를 포위하고 있는 죄악들을 찾아 내기 위해 우리의 마음을 살펴야 한다. 그러면 우리가 무엇을 위해 기도해야 할지를 알게 될 것이다.

(12) 하나님은 오직 믿음의 기도에 응답하여 은혜를 부어주시는 방법을 택하셨다. 사탄은 지극히 교묘한 방법들로 우리를 유혹한다. 사탄은 우리의 생각이 연상 작용을 통해 잡념의 바다에서 끝없이 헤매도록 만든다. 우리는 기도할 때 육체적 욕심을 경계하기 위해 깨어 있어야 한다. 기도할 때 우리도 사탄의 전술을 재빨리 간파하여 대응해야 한다. 기도 응답을 위해 깨어 있어야 한다.
